Camping with my Boys

:-)
So Cory and I decided to take our first camping trip of just our family.  I think we both enjoy camping so we have started to get some of the essentials and wanted to see how our boys would do.  I think KC and Tido did great.  Tido wouldn't stop running around and exploring, and KC, of course, would always find something that he shouldn't be eating, but I think they both had a great time.  We got a tent, 2 nice sleeping bags, a lantern and the above chairs from walmart for $4 each!

 Here's our campsite

COLD- Right before we went, Cory and I bought new jackets at Costco along with a bunch of goodies

Here I am with KC.

We left the boys off of the leash, for most of the time.  We started with having them walking around with a leash attached to them (just so if they did go to far it would be easier to catch them- I don't know if you have ever had to catch KC, but he's pretty good at dodging, we should play capture the flag with him).  Then, when that wasn't as successful, I tied them to a tree each with 100 ft of rope for themselves... now about ever 7 minutes they would get tangled with each other, rocks, sticks, trees, etc. then, we made a contraction similar to one of Cory's parent's friends does with their dog, which had a long rope over the whole camp site and with loops  with the dogs ropes tied to it.  That worked a little better and it increased the time from the dogs getting tangled from 7 minutes to maybe 12 minutes.  The next day we left the loose until night and they did very well.  The last day, Monday, KC decided to leave our campsite and therefore was tied back to the campsite while Tido ran around the whole camping area freely as he knew his boundaries.

We tried to get the boys to pose on a rock.

Cooking Breakfast- let's see, the meals we made: hamburgers, chicken quesadillas, bacon and hasbrowns, soup, steak and corn on the cob, and french toast :-)  I think our meals were very well planned and worked out well.  My only suggestion for next time would be to prepare some of the meals before leaving, especially the ones made at night  so we don't have to work too hard when it's cold.

Campfire!

KC posed on our hike on a fallen tree.

This was in the middle of the trail, with a 1993 basketball tournament on it.  Crazy old!

It's raining and my boys are cuddling up with me :-)

I do think Sunday night (the rainy night) was a little traumatizing for our boys.  I don't think they have ever been so cold (and I forgot their dog coats).  They ended up sleeping in the sleeping bag with Cory and I, well mostly with me as they are definitely momma's boys.

Since our boys didn't want find Cory too comfy, cory had to cook dinner while the rest of his family just cuddled and watched.   Also here is Cory in his new Costco jacket.

Corn on the the cob, yum!

Tent pic after the rain.  Its our cute little 3-person backpackers tents which is just enough for us and the dogs, but not our stuff, or at least Cory's stuff :-P

Our camping trip was a success and a good learning experience.  I loved bonding with all my boys :-D

 Driving Home.

Tido loves our sleeping bags
